Seafood is our family business. Run by third-generation restaurateur Sam Mink, Oyster House’s story dates back to 1947. Sam’s grandfather purchased Kelly’s, a Philadelphia institution that had developed a loyal crowd by serving seafood and oysters. His father David took over the restaurant at the age of 22, eventually moving it to its current location and rebranding it as Sansom Street Oyster House. David prided himself on serving the freshest seafood available to customers in Center City, and has continued to select fish from the market each morning for the restaurant.
Today, Sam and Chef Aaron Gottesman craft a daily menu that highlights the freshest East Coast fish and shellfish, while always serving the classics many of our customers come back for, like our critically acclaimed lobster roll. We offer exceptional wines, sophisticated cocktails, local craft beers and we're proud to offer Philadelphia's most extensive selection of gin.
